Lemonade, the digital insurance company known for its AI-driven solutions and social impact initiatives, has announced a significant expansion of its home insurance offerings in the United Kingdom.

As of July 2024, homeowners across the UK can now access comprehensive Buildings and Contents insurance through Lemonade, marking a pivotal step in the company’s growth trajectory. This new product, developed in collaboration with established insurer Aviva, aims to provide extensive coverage for homes and personal belongings, starting at just £14 per month.

The newly launched Buildings and Contents insurance is tailored specifically for UK customers, boasting a Defaqto 5-star rating. Homeowners can obtain instant coverage via the Lemonade app or online platform.

The base coverage includes rebuild costs, temporary accommodation, civil and property liability, and flexible contents coverage up to £100,000. Additionally, Lemonade offers a suite of add-ons to ensure full-scope coverage and flexibility.

These add-ons include:

  • Home Emergency Assistance: Provides support for urgent issues such as broken boilers, burst pipes, broken locks, or electrical failures.
  • Accidental Damage: Covers unexpected accidental events that damage the home or its contents.
  • Theft and Loss: Protects against theft and accidental loss both inside and outside the home, including items like bikes, laptops, and phones.
  • Legal Protection: Offers specialised legal assistance for disputes related to the insured home, clinical negligence, and employment contracts.

Lemonade’s expansion in the UK market is bolstered by its ongoing partnership with Aviva, a collaboration that began with the company’s initial UK launch in October 2022.

Daniel Schreiber, Lemonade CEO and co-founder, emphasised the significance of this partnership, stating, “The UK has proven to be an exciting market for us with a large digitally-savvy population who appreciate an easy, personalized experience. Growing our home insurance offerings this quickly is a tribute to our incredible team and our thriving partnership with Aviva.”

Aviva and Lemonade share common values and by working together we can create compelling new propositions and experiences for customers.”
