A new software application â edgeConnect â designed to deliver an Open Presentation Platform (OPP), which enables companies to develop applications using a âwrite once, publish multiple timesâ model, has been launched by software innovator edge IPK.
edgeConnect, comprising a development tool and a runtime environment server, enables organisations to rapidly develop and manage business applications without scripting. This in turn supports multiple user interfaces and presentations through a single process definition, providing massive productivity gains.
Mike Williams, CEO of edge IPK, said: "The business trend to conduct mission critical activity through the Internet has increased the amount of application development on Web-enabled front-ends. Â For large enterprises, such as those in the retail finance sector with multiple product portfolios, the effort is enormous. Couple this with M&A activity, and the work to integrate applications adds increased strain on development teams. The answer surely has to be more intelligent use of automation and our OPP product, edgeConnect, delivers just that."
Dharmesh Mistry, CTO of edge IPK, added: "This is the worldâs first OPP that allows users to create multiple online - rich and thin - offline, portal and composite applications from a single process definition. edgeConnect is a groundbreaking solution, and solves a major issue confronted by developers since the birth of e-commerce."
The primary - but not exclusive - market focus for edgeConnect is the retail financial services sector. Â This industry has seen significant investment in technology applications that were developed to address specific business requirements. Today, there is a need for these legacy investments to support an ever growing customer base, while addressing diversity in the delivery channel, to deliver multiple brand support, extend product groups and widen geographical reach. Â
Built on standard XML â which is hidden from the user â edgeConnect has a full graphical user interface development environment, this enables users to easily and quickly build a presentation layer of complex contextual based applications.
