Prometeia Headquarters receive the LEED® Gold certification

The Green Building Council, the most important international body for the evaluation of the environmental sustainability features of buildings, has awarded the LEED® Gold certification to the new Prometeia Headquarters in Bologna, inaugurated in September 2019. 

LEED® (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) promotes an approach oriented towards sustainability, recognizing the performance of buildings in key areas, such as energy and water saving, reduction of CO2 emissions, improvement of the ecological quality of interiors, materials, resources used, design and site selection.

The Headquarters reduces water consumption by 45% and energy consumption by 30.7%, compared to the benchmark. It has natural light available for 77.7% of the occupied areas and photovoltaic panels that account for 5.6% of energy consumption. 

The materials have been selected on the basis of a certified environmental performance and, when possible, with recycled and regionally sourced materials content.

The building has a large space dedicated to bicycles and an internal parking area that encourages alternative mobility with spaces reserved for carpooling and electric cars.

In front of the headquarters, Prometeia has restored and made available to the neighborhood the public square, where the planted trees do not require permanent irrigation.

Prometeia’s Chairman Angelo Tantazzi commented: 

“The decision to invest in a green building is one of the main steps in the sustainability path of Prometeia, which has joined the United Nations Global Compact since 2018. We are proud to have obtained LEED® Gold certification: for us, ’sustainability’ has always been synonymous with ’future’.”
