Morningstar Inc., today announced the speakers and programme for its third annual pan-Europe ETF Conference.

The Morningstar ETF Conference, to be held on 6th and 7th November in London, will seek to clarify the complexities, theories, and opportunities surrounding exchange-traded products (ETPs) and will deliver the insights needed for professional investors to make more informed decisions. The conference will also provide the launch platform for the Women in ETFs European Chapter.

Keynote speakers at this year’s conference will include:

  • Jason Hsu, Ph.D., Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Research Affiliates, on “Strategic” or “Smart” Beta within the multi-premia investing framework
  • Arnab Das, Founder and Principal of Das Capital, on emerging markets versus developed markets
  • Luis Garicano, Ph.D., Professor of Economics and Strategy at the London School of Economics, on the sustainability of the recovery in the peripheral Euro countries
  • Deborah Fuhr, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of independent research and consultancy firm ETFGI, who will announce the launch of the Women in ETFs European Chapter
  • Paul Dolan, Ph.D., Professor of Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics, on influencing behaviour

“As ETPs garner assets from an increasingly diverse range of investors, the need to scrutinise and understand this space has never been greater,” Hortense Bioy, Morningstar’s Director of Manager Research, Passive Strategies, Europe, said. “Delegates will have access to renewed insights into this evolving landscape from industry experts who will analyse the latest trends in investor demand, the state of innovation and competition across the industry, the growth of strategic beta, the latest regulation affecting ETPs, and what the future holds for ETP investors.”

The conference will also feature a number of discussion rounds, including:

  • Strategic Beta, Smart Beta or Alternative Beta, chaired by Ben Johnson, Morningstar’s Global Director of Manager Research for Passive Strategies.
  • A review of ETF managed portfolios, one of the fastest-growing ETF segments, as well as the pitfalls of ETF distribution and trading.
  • An industry roundtable featuring senior executives of major ETF firms including Vanguard, Deutsche AWM, UBS, and State Street.
