Morningstar UK Limited, a subsidiary of independent investment research firm Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), today announced the speaker and programme details for its annual Morningstar Investment Conference UK.

The Morningstar Investment Conference UK, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, will be held in London on 10th and 11th May 2016 and expects to attract more than 400 professional financial advisers, paraplanners and wealth managers. The event will bring together financial experts, leading fund managers and academics to examine the market from a macro perspective, consider the key concerns and opportunities for investors in a low-growth environment, and share insights on current industry trends.

Headlining presenters include Richard Buxton, Head of UK Equities and Fund Manager, Old Mutual Global Investors, who will discuss macroeconomic issues facing today’s equity investors. Delegates will also hear from Charles Pohl, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer, Dodge & Cox Worldwide Funds, on valuation investing and its opportunities for long-term investors. In addition, Martijn Cremers, Professor of Finance, University of Notre Dame, and architect of the Active Share measure now widely used across the investment industry, will share his latest research on the impact of active share and patient investment strategies on fund performance.

Additional highlights of this year’s conference include:

  • Andrew Rose, Fund Manager, Schroders, on whether Japanese equities are a sound long-term investment
  • Stephanie Flanders, Chief Market Strategist for UK and Europe, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, on the challenges and key implications of today’s investment landscape
  • Steven Smit, Head of Sustainability, Morningstar, on sustainable investing and what Morningstar is doing to help individuals, advisers and asset managers invest in ways that are meaningful to them
  • Daniel Godfrey, Consultant and Independent Director; Gina Miller, Founding Partner, SCM Private; and Saker Nusseibeh, Chief Executive, Hermes Investment Management, in a panel debate on fee transparency

“In today’s challenging investment environment, it is more important than ever to share best practices,” Mark Roomans, Chief Executive Officer of Morningstar UK, said. “This year’s UK conference will offer compelling insight into a number of vital and timely topics including the outlook for the global economy, the effect of emerging markets and growth on volatility, and recent shifts in the landscape for sustainable investing. We’ll also address fund fees and how we can leverage technology to deliver a better investor experience. I look forward to welcoming delegates to our 10th anniversary event.”
