KPMG UK has partnered with FinTech Scotland to enhance innovation, collaboration, and growth within Scotland’s burgeoning financial technology sector. This strategic alliance aims to position Scotland as a global leader in fintech.

FinTech Scotland, which manages a cluster of over 250 fintech SMEs, 35 established financial and professional services institutions, global technology enterprises, universities, regulators, and public sector entities, will benefit from KPMG’s extensive expertise in financial services innovation. Key technologies such as AI, Distributed Ledger Technologies, and Open Finance are expected to be focal points of this collaboration.

Nicola Anderson, CEO of FinTech Scotland, emphasised the significance of this partnership: “This partnership with KPMG UK strengthens our shared commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth in Scotland’s fintech cluster. Thanks to KPMG’s global expertise and the thriving Scottish fintech community, I’m confident we can accelerate innovation and support the scaling of innovative businesses that contribute to Scotland’s economic and societal progress.”

KPMG UK’s involvement is timely, following a recent reshuffle in its Scottish office leadership aimed at expanding its presence in the region.

Ann Devine, Partner at KPMG UK, remarked, “We’re excited to be working with FinTech Scotland and deepen our relationships with firms in this growing sector. Scotland is one of the key clusters for UK fintech activity and this collaboration demonstrates our ongoing commitment to local fintech businesses in the region.”

As a global professional services network, KPMG’s contribution will include cutting-edge insights and strategies to navigate the disruptive changes brought by new technologies. This collaboration aims to ensure that Scotland’s fintech cluster continues to lead by example through innovation and collaboration, fostering financial inclusion.

This partnership underscores a shared vision for economic and social progress driven by fintech innovation, setting the stage for Scotland to solidify its position as a key player in the global fintech landscape. The news follows KPMG UK’s reshuffle of its Scottish office this month, with a new leadership team now in place to help the firm grow its footprint north of the border.
