GigaSpaces XAP 12.1 Combines the Power of In-memory Computing with Agile Cloud-Native Deployments and Hybrid Data Storage

GigaSpaces, a provider of in-memory computing (IMC) technologies, today announces the availability of XAP 12.1, an update to the company's flagship IMC data grid. The new version of XAP combines IMC with the agility of cloud-native deployments and the flexibility of hybrid data storage to offer a stable, highly available, extreme performance environment for data and analytics applications.

Key Benefits of XAP 12.1 include:

  • Full Text Search for Unstructured Data Processing: In addition to co-locating data and query, we’re introducing Lucene indexing to co-locate search as well. All the popular XAP Space API (event containers, tasks, remoting API) can now be used against unstructured data for real-time text analysis. The new search API can be used in conjunction with any other SQL query filter (geospatial, nested, etc.).
  • Cloud-Native, Containerized, and RESTful Management: XAP 12.1 enables a simplified DevOps pipeline by supporting containerized deployment with Docker and REST API to manage large-scale deployments. Whether the deployment environment is on-premise, cloud or edge, XAP developers can now easily on-board new processing units and microservices with a couple of REST API calls.
  • Fast Data Recovery with MemoryXtend: A traditional barrier to IMC adoption has been consistent availability of RAM. In cases of a planned or unplanned restart, all of the data being analyzed would need to be reloaded. XAP 12.1 drastically reduces recovery time by introducing a new initial data load mechanism that can preload data according to a user-specified priority (through a SQL query).
