Fix Trading Community EMEA Trading Conference preview

The Fix Trading Community EMEA Conference 2017 takes place this Thursday, 2 March, at the Old Billingsgate Market in London. The trading conference is back for it’s ninth year with a full day of panel debates, talks and networking events from innovators and industry specialists.

The event will see attendees the likes of Bank of America Merill Lynch, Barclays, Citi, HSBC, UBS, Nomura and other key players in the banking and financial services sector.

This year's Fix Trading Community conference will cover the following topics:

  • MIFID II
  • Impact of MIFID II on non-EU firms and trading in the EU
  • What the equity trading landscape will look like in 2018
  • The future for fixed income and derivatives
  • Post trade
  • Security of the financial markets
  • Data flows for trading and regulatory reporting under MIFID II

John Hughes, Head of Post-trade sales at Fidessa will be a panellist in the Post-Trade discussion taking place at 1.30pm.

Robert Barnes is the chief executive officer of Turquoise and will be attending the conference. He will be moderating the last discussion of the day at 3.45pm, discussing the future of fixed income and derivatives.

Barclays Investment Bank: Barclays Invesment Bank is the investment banking division of the British multinational Barclays bank headquartered in London. It provides advisory and financial services to clients and large corporate clients. 

Matthew Coupe, Director at Barclays Investment Bank, will be a panellist in the first talk of the day on dealing with MIFID II in a global regulatory framework, as well as taking part in the last talk of the day at 3.45pm, discussing the future for fixed income and derivatives.

Nej D’jelal, Managing Director and head of EMEA Electronic equities product at Barlcays, will also be at the conference. He will be a panellist in the 11am discussion on what the equity trading landscape will look like in 2018 and beyond.

Keynote speakers

The two keynote speakers for the conference are Dr Kay Swinburne, Conservative MEP for Wales, and Sean Fitzpatrick, professional sports commentator and motivational speaker.
