Thomson Reuters has launched the Checkpoint Learning Retirement Planning Certificate Program, which provides practitioners with the expertise and tools they need to increase client consulting and revenue opportunities related to retirement planning.
In the US, 10,000 people each day are reaching retirement age. By 2030, 18% of the country’s population will be at or above the retirement age. This program helps professionals who advise clients on retirement matters differentiate themselves through a wide range of informational resources on saving for retirement and on types of retirement income.
“This training is particularly timely in anticipation of an upcoming retirement services boom as more baby boomers approach retirement,” said Chris Horne, senior director of operations and business development with the Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting business. “We’ve designed this program to equip advisors with a solid grasp of the necessary skills and knowledge to support their clients’ varied advisory needs.”
Delivered via the Checkpoint Learning platform, this program uses a blended-learning format comprised of online self-study courses and a final exam. Beyond looking at best practices for retirement savings and social security options, the program also provides in-depth coverage on planning for Medicare and retirees’ other budgetary needs.
Candidates who successfully complete the coursework and final exam will earn a Checkpoint Learning Retirement Planning Competency Certificate and up to 30 hours of continuing professional education credit. Completion of the courses may also qualify towards the continuing education requirement of enrolled agents and other designations.
