Virtustream, the enterprise-class cloud provider and EMC Federation company, today announced Sabre Corporation, a leading technology provider to the global travel industry, has selected Virtustream’s cloud infrastructure-as-a-service platform and managed services to power its enterprise-class cloud environment, including applications such as SAP® and Dell Boomi.
Sabre’s software, data, mobile and distribution solutions are used by hundreds of airlines and thousands of hotel properties to manage critical operations, including passenger and guest reservations, revenue management, flight, network and crew management. Sabre also operates a leading global travel marketplace, which processes more than $120 billion of estimated travel spend annually by connecting travel buyers and suppliers.
“Sabre conducted an extensive search to find the right partner to help us transition key supporting technologies to the cloud as we continue to invest in our growing business,” said Steve Strout, vice president of Corporate Systems at Sabre Corporation. “We selected Virtustream because of its demonstrated track record working with other global enterprise organizations, as well as its deep SAP expertise.”
Rather than migrate its current applications to the cloud, Sabre tapped Virtustream to build a new environment based on SAP HANA®technology for a more efficient and cost effective experience. Sabre is also harnessing Virtustream’s substantial experience managing enterprise systems at scale, with ongoing managed services providing lifecycle expertise in areas including backup, security and compliance.
“We’re helping Sabre streamline its core business applications suite so that it can stay nimble, secure and competitive,” said Jim Fitzgibbons, vice president, Onboarding & Migration Services, Virtustream. “Our patented microVM technology and leading security and compliance functionality, coupled with the global scale of EMC, drives Virtustream’s continued ability to serve marquis enterprise clients such as Sabre.”
Virtustream was officially acquired by EMC in July 2015 and is now part of the EMC Federation. Its cloud software and services are used by numerous Fortune 500 enterprises and public sector organizations worldwide.
