London - 6 March 2014

Cloud hosting specialist recognised for employee empowerment and enrichment

Rackspace Hosting (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, has been ranked at number 26 in the Sunday Times Best Companies awards ceremony held last week in central London. Now featured in the newspaper’s best-of list for nine consecutive years, the Sunday Times recognised Rackspace for its attitude towards Racker training and personal development.

“Building a winning team is part of the DNA of our business because we know that building a fun and creative environment is what makes Rackspace and its ‘Rackers’ so special,” said Jeff Cotten, Managing Director, International, Rackspace. “We are proud to see Rackspace win in the Sunday Times Best Companies list for the ninth year in a row as we firmly believe that Racker engagement is the secret to delivering compelling outcomes to our customers.”

The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For supplement reports that 82% of Rackspace employees love their jobs. Much of this contentment comes down to aspects such as competitively high salaries, opportunities for personal career development and free gym membership.

Rackspace gives every employee known as ‘Rackers’ a very ‘personalised’ workspace and a total of 80% of Rackspace employees say that their bosses always express their feelings when a good job is done. Equally, a total of 82% of staff say they feel comfortable telling their boss when things are going badly. Managers sit in open plan offices alongside employees and new starters are met at the door on their first day. The company continues to grow year-on-year through positive programmes such as the “Building Winning Teams” initiative, which is designed to encourage positive development in the workplace.

The Texas-founded company has offices around the globe, and keeps the same cultural energy flowing through every location. This proves that if anyone is making the cloud enjoyable, it’s Rackspace.
