Visa approves AnywhereCommerce mPOS device

4 October 2013

The Visa Ready Program has approved the AnywhereCommerce Walker mobile point of sale (mPOS) device.

It means all machines manufactured by the global payments technology provider can now be used with Visa cards.

The Walker appliance supports EMV chip-and-signature technologies, as well as the magnetic strip payment acceptance devices. It is approved for EMV L1 and L2, and utilises the AnywhereCommerce audio-jack-attachable capability that turns a smartphone or other mobile platform into a highly secure mPOS solution.

Indeed, the Walker application is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 operating systems.

Mitchell Cobrin, founder and chief executive officer of AnywhereCommerce, said: "To have our technology tested, approved and ultimately aligned with a blue chip company like Visa validates our commitment to develop technologies that are relevant and accessible."

Earlier this year, AnywhereCommerce released their mobile chip and PIN 'Nomad 1.0', which was one of the first devices approved in the Visa Ready Program.
