Freight Investor Services (FIS), a London-based broker of freight and commodity swaps, has launched a new mobile app that attempts to give traders a tool to keep in touch with the markets when on the move.
The new mobile app is available for free download on Apple’s AppStore and the BlackBerry AppWorld. According to FIS it combines indicative market prices across the main freight and commodity groupings with powerful front-end graphs to display forward curves and historical spot prices more easily to commodities traders. Daily reports for all markets, including closing curves, commentaries, spreads and ratios can also be delivered to phones.
Available in both English and Mandarin language versions users can customise the app to deliver the prices, reports and chart data for the commodities and contracts that are of most relevance to them. Data on the dry freight, iron ore, steel and scrap markets can be specified, alongside coking coal, fertilizer and fuel oil commodities and swaps markets.
“Today’s freight and commodity swap markets are unrecognisable from when FIS was founded 10 years ago. We have seen the development of new liquidity, new products, and new services like clearing and new entrants who want to access information on the move,” said FIS managing director, John Banaszkiewicz. “The FIS App enables these players to keep up to speed with the market, putting our prices, daily reports and forward curves on a mobile platform for the first time.”
