Firm Streamlines Technology Functions while Enhancing Business Continuity Planning and DR Capabilities via iPM Cloud
INDATA, a leading industry provider of software and services for buy-side firms including trade order management (OMS), compliance, portfolio accounting and front-to-back office today announced that Bailard, based in Foster City, CA, is now live with INDATA’s iPM Cloud – Intelligent Portfolio Management® platform.
According to Sonya Thadhani, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Risk Officer at Bailard, interest in evaluating cloud solutions was driven by an ongoing review of the role of technology within the firm, as well as the need for implementing greater business continuity planning and disaster recovery capabilities as required by the firm’s institutional clients. “We were at the end of a three year plan to upgrade our IT infrastructure in order to gain greater efficiencies, so the Cloud was an interesting possibility for us to explore,” she said.
One of the challenges for Bailard was the extensive use of proprietary, in-house systems. “Our proprietary systems are equally important so it was necessary to have all of our core systems work with the cloud, not just iPM,” said Thadhani. As a result, Bailard’s technical staff engaged INDATA’s iPM Cloud technical staff in order to scope and coordinate the feasibility of integrating Bailard’s proprietary in-house solutions into the iPM Cloud architecture. One of the distinct advantages of iPM Cloud that made this possible is that each client has a dedicated environment that can also interact with proprietary applications, unlike the typical multi-tenant cloud models of other providers that only focus on their own specific applications.
After concluding a rigorous series of tests, Bailard moved forward with going live. “Now that we are live with iPM Cloud we have achieved our primary business objectives of streamlining our technology infrastructure in line with industry best practices as well as significantly enhancing our business continuity planning and disaster recovery capabilities. We have also seen an improvement in terms of operational efficiency and the speed at which we can perform certain of our daily investment management activities on our mission-critical systems,” said Thadhani.
“Bailard’s successful migration to iPM Cloud is a testament to the skill of the talented technical staff of both firms and we are delighted at add Bailard to our fast growing roster of iPM Cloud clients,” commented David J. Csiki, Managing Director, INDATA. “The level of sophistication of this project provides further affirmation to the success of our proprietary and proven iPM Cloud model,” he added.
