BNY Mellon, the leader in investment management and investment services, announced today that Gabriela "Gabby" Parcella, chief executive officer of Mellon Capital Management Corporation, will gain the additional title of chairman of Mellon Capital's board of directors on December 31, 2012.

Mellon Capital is the San Francisco-based multi-asset manager for BNY Mellon. As chairman, Parcella will succeed Charlie Jacklin, who will retire from Mellon Capital at the end of 2012.

Parcella, who was named chief executive officer in March 2011, has been with Mellon Capital since 1997 and rose to chief operating officer in 2008. Mellon Capital finished the third quarter of 2012 with a record $258.9 billion in assets under management.

"Under Gabby Parcella's leadership, Mellon Capital has achieved strong growth as it builds on its expertise in global asset allocation, alternative investments and indexing," said Curtis Arledge, chief executive officer of BNY Mellon Investment Management. "She also has been a key contributor to Mellon Capital's international expansion, its growth in collective fund offerings and the launch of its alternatives investment strategies platform."

Parcella received her M.P.A and bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. degree from Stanford University.
