British Arab Commercial Bank goes live with China Systems’ Front End Solution

14 June 2012

China Systems, the global trade finance and supply chain finance vendor is pleased to announce that British Arab Commercial Bank (BACB) has become the latest bank to go live with Customer Enterprise, its SOA compliant, Java EE-based Corporate Trade Portal.

BACB is a wholesale bank and a leading provider of trade and project finance for Arab and African markets. Based in the City of London, the Bank has been a China Systems customer for 25 years and also uses its back office solution, Eximbills, to process all of its trade finance transactions.

Customer Enterprise is an established global standard installed by many international banks to meet their Corporate Portal / Internet processing requirements. It combines a Rapid Application Development toolkit with a flexible base business model, providing support for banks’ customers to process their Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Collections, Payments, Open Account and Supply Chain Finance transactions. It provides a single window solution for a corporate customer’s complete trade processing needs, but can also be integrated within a bank’s existing portal.

BACBeTS (as the BACB portal is known) will initially be used by the bank’s clients to automate the application process for Letters of Credit which are currently received by fax and courier. Automation will save processing time and cost for BACB and also increase STP by offering their customers a much more streamlined and efficient service. BACB will look to supplement this with a Collections module and possibly others, depending on customer demands.

Lesley Burchell, China Systems Project Manager, said, ‘’The bank’s demands were quite challenging because we needed to make sure that the solution met BACB’s clients’ expectations. Our Toolkit was invaluable here because it allowed us to make the necessary changes very quickly without the need to interfere with the system’s source code and that minimised the project risk.’’

Gary Bishop, Head of Operations for BACB, said, "The project was a good partnership between the Bank and China Systems with close co-operation from the beginning. China Systems showed patience and commitment in meeting our requirements – predicated by a demanding and unique workflow - with considerable changes to the core offering. We carried out intensive User Acceptance Testing to ensure that the product met our clients’ expectations. BACB is very pleased with the final version, the look, feel and its performance. We look forward to adding additional functionality to the solution during the current year to meet our clients’ operational expectations.”

Tony Marks, European Account Manager of China Systems, added, "BACB are one of our longest standing clients and we are delighted to add them to our growing list of Customer Enterprise users. We look forward to developing the product further over the next year to meet new client requirements.”
