Sibos is almost here

22 October 2010

Sibos, one of the biggest events in the financial technology industry calendar, is nearly upon us.

Organised by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), this year’s event is taking place in Amsterdam and, if all goes according to plan, is due to start on Monday (October 25th).

The main focus for much of Sibos’ four days worth of talks, presentations and discussion surround consolidation - the banking industry is still in the process of picking itself up, dusting itself down and moving on following the pummelling it received two years ago.

Sibos 2010’s main topics - regulation, rebuilding trust and recovery - illustrate how the banking industry is still in a state of flux. They also reflect recent comments from Karen Massey, senior analyst of banking practice at IDC Financial Insights, who described how “financial services remains in a precarious place as the global economy has not yet rebounded”.

Firms exhibiting at Sibos and thought leaders and experts giving talks and presentations will be tackling these key themes – and Bobsguide will be bringing you coverage of all the week's highlights and talking points through a mix of editorial blogs and news straight from the show.

See you in Amsterdam.
