According to the Wall Street Journal, the banker is expected to be appointed European head of business services investment banking at Goldman Sachs during the summer.
He currently works for UBS as the joint head of technology and business services investment banking group for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
The new post holder has been employed by the Swiss bank for a decade, having worked as head of the technology unit from June 2008.
He helped expand the presence of UBS in Europe alongside fellow department head Dominic Lester.
Mr Gostling took on the role at UBS at the same time as David Handler and David St Jean were appointed as joint heads of technology investment banking for UBS in the US.
Meanwhile, UBS has announced two new appointments to head up its equities division.
Yassine Bouhara has been taken on after working for Deutsche Bank as its global head of Structuring and head of Global Markets EMEA.
Francois Gouws, current head of equities at UBS, will work alongside Mr Bouhara in a joint posting.
