Jeffrey Sloan, former head of Goldman Sachs’ financial technology group, has been appointed president of Global Payments.

According to the financial technology firm, Mr Sloan will be working on expanding its business in North America as well as searching for other development opportunities in the global market place.

The new post holder, who takes on the role from June 1st, has worked on Goldman Sachs’ operations within the payments industry for the last ten years.

Paul R Garcia, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) at Global Payments, said: “I am very enthusiastic about adding Jeff to our team.

“He is a highly respected and knowledgeable leader in financial services with an unparalleled understanding of emerging trends and worldwide opportunities in the payments industry. He rounds out what I consider to be a world-class leadership team.”

Earlier in the year, Mr Garcia was named as one of the top ranking CEOs in Institutional Investor magazine's annual US Investor Relations rankings.

Nearly 800 portfolio managers and more than 550 buy-side analysts voted in the poll.
