permanent tsb's text banking service wins award

Macalla, leader and innovator in mobile payment solutions, has announced that one of its customers, permanent tsb, won an Inspired IT award for its text banking service. This mobile banking solution is powered by the Macalla Platform.

The Inspired IT Awards were created by iReach to recognise heads of IT and their teams for their strategic role in helping to drive competitiveness and place Ireland at the forefront of knowledge creation and IT innovation. permanent tsb won the financial services category award.

Commenting on the award, Eamon Martin, Manager - Online Development & Mobile Banking permanent tsb said, "We are of course delighted to win this award. We will continue to add new products and services to retain and attract new customers. The mobile & online channels are key in this regard."

The service was launched in July this year. Customers register for Text Banking via permanent tsb's Open24 service. They simply supply their mobile phone number and provider, whether account is pre- or post-paid and nominate their default permanent tsb account. A five digit security access code is then sent by SMS. This code is used by the customer to confirm any future transactions.

Customers are using their mobile phones for more and more every single day. It's logical that banking services should be available too."
