Orfival GPMS live at Spencer House Capital Management

8 July 2008

Spencer House Capital Management LLP (“SHCM”) was established in 2006 by Lord Rothschild and Richard Horlick as an independent asset management partnership. SHCM is focused on delivering superior risk adjusted returns across a range of investment strategies together with a high degree of transparency to ensure that their clients are well informed about the progress of their assets. The fund managers seek to generate alpha through a disciplined long stock approach with an allocation of capital based on long term cash flow returns on investments.

SHCM manages a global equity strategy from their office in London together with a joint venture fund, Tau Capital plc, in partnership with Compass Asset Management, one of the leading investment banking groups in Kazakhstan.

Assets under management (vehicles advised and managed by SHCM) amount to over $600 million as at 31 May 2008.
SHCM is now live with the implementation of GPMS from Orfival as a portfolio and order management system; the second phase, covering performance measurement and risk analysis, is underway.

“We bought GPMS because of the range of coverage it offers,” says Richard Ford, COO at SHCM. “We needed a quality solution to be used in all our offices worldwide which would automate and control the maximum number of processes. We have been delighted to go live in a very tight two month timescale, whilst being able to subsequently add new capabilities easily and on an ad hoc basis. This has been possible because of the ease and flexibility of setting up some of the processes; I would particularly single out the reporting capability in this respect. This enables us to offer our clients the high quality and transparent service we aim for.

“We have also been very pleased with the responsiveness of the Orfival consultants - and the fact that the delivery of the solution matched what we had been promised.”

Orfival are based in Belgium with offices in London and Paris. Orfival have a base of some 30 clients in a number of locations worldwide; the client base includes asset managers, family offices, hedge funds, insurance companies and pension funds. GPMS provides portfolio management, pre- and post-trade compliance, order management, performance and risk measurement and analysis, and reporting and accounting capabilities.
