Hoodless Brennan Scoops up Awards

5 December 2008

Stockbroker, Hoodless Brennan has swept the board with this year’s top awards for its online broking service. It has been accredited with the 2008 Daily Telegraph Award for Best Online Service and, in the same week, has received six further awards from the 2008 Financial Times and Investors Chronicle Investment Awards for Best Execution Only Stockbroker, Best Online Stockbroker, Best Stockbroker for Cost, Best Stockbroker for Frequent Traders, Best Self-Select ISA and the overall Stockbroker of the Year 2008.

The accolades follow enhancements to its Internet Broker software, supplied by MBA Systems, which were introduced a year ago in response to the results of market research conducted by Hoodless Brennan.

“We are absolutely delighted by these awards,” explains Craig Harrison, Online Development Manager for Hoodless Brennan. “We have been recognised for our low cost service for some time and have received the Financial Times and Investors Chronicle Investment award for Best Online Stockbroker for Cost for the past four years, but these further awards reflect the quality of our service and demonstrate that all the improvements that we have put into our system are really appreciated by our clients.”

Enhancements to its MBA Internet Broker system have added a new level of facilities for its online execution-only clients. Included is a trade reporting facility that enables clients to view the history of all their transactions online with full details of their portfolio valuation. Clients can also easily access their dividend history, enabling them to see full details of the current and previous tax years and receive the information by email.

To help clients make a more informed choice, they now have free and easy access to the firm’s research section on its web site. The additional Watch List facility then allows them to monitor stocks in a virtual portfolio so that clients can see how their values go up as well as down. They can then dip in and buy or sell at any time.

“When upgrading our system, we wanted to enhance the information for our clients, whilst not complicating the process of trading. It’s a fine balance,” says Harrison. It is a balance that has client appeal. Since upgrading its electronic trading system, Hoodless Brennan’s online client base has increased by over one-third.

Founded in 1992, Hoodless Brennan is one of the fastest growing independent stockbrokers in the UK. It added its online execution only service to its advisory service in 2001. The Internet Broker software provided by MBA Systems incorporates a high level of straight through processing and automation, which enabled Hoodless Brennan to provide its trading facility at a low cost and it passed this advantage onto its clients. When the firm decided to enhance its service it listened to the needs of its clients through its annual survey.

“Our online trading system now has a very broad appeal to both the novice trader as well the seasoned investor with more experience. We are continuing to enhance the system all the time, working closely with MBA Systems who we find very helpful and proactive with development suggestions,” concludes Harrison.
