Barrington Partners has released its latest research document; the U.S. Fund Accounting Systems Review 2007. The Review provides a thorough analysis of 6 major, licensable software systems supporting U.S. mutual fund accounting requirements, detailing each systemâs functional capabilities and platform architecture. The research report also incorporates client commentary and feedback from at least 3 users of each system.
Written in a combination of expansive paragraph and check-box format, the Review serves as a research tool on fund accounting platforms, and is ideal for a pre-RFP decision on vendors to be considered for a system selection process.

Our initial research phase involves in-depth discussions with senior industry personnel to ensure that the Review captures currently relevant information.
We then work with each system vendor to gain up-to-date information on system functionality, as well as on recent and planned development efforts. This phase also includes information gathering on strategic company initiatives and organizational structure.
The final phase involves interviewing three to five different clients of each vendor, to gain feedback on system usage. These confidential interviews cover specific system functionality and are conducted with operational staff utilizing the system on a daily basis, thus bringing significant hands-on knowledge of each system reviewed. Where possible, the interview process also includes commentary from senior client-firm personnel, in order to provide global and strategic insights relating to the system and vendor.
These unattributed client comments are included in the final document to provide user perspectives and insights, which may at times contrast with observations made by other clients or the vendor.
