PCI Geomatics selects SafeNet Sentinel RMS to secure software licensing

20 June 2007

Sentinel RMS enables PCI Geomatics to maintain control of intellectual property while reducing development costs.

SafeNet, a global leader in information security, has announced that PCI Geomatics®, a world leading developer of image-centric software and solutions for the geospatial industry, has selected SafeNet Sentinel RMS to license their software, Geomatica.

The implementation of Sentinel RMS enables PCI Geomatics to control how customers access licences, protecting the software from unauthorised use and distribution. PCI Geomatics previously used a combination of Sentinel Hardware Keys and their own, home-grown software licence management. Eventually, the company’s growth outpaced the ability of the home-grown component which led to the evaluation of third-party solutions.

“Sentinel RMS has proven to be reliable, working as we expected it to. SafeNet technical support was outstanding - which was key to successful integration,” said Richard Pollock, Vice President of Product and Technology Delivery at PCI Geomatics. “The Sentinel RMS documentation was superior to competitive products and, as developers that is very important to us.”

The release of Geomatica 10.1 features significant new additions along with enhancements in reliability, performance, usability and functionality of existing technology. This update is the culmination of user requests and recommendations, as well as advancements PCI Geomatics has made in their technology.

“PCI Geomatics, among other organisations in the GIS industry, are quickly realising the value of a software protection and licensing solution," said Jam Khan, director of product management, software protection, SafeNet. “We are extremely proud that, after extensive evaluation, PCI Geomatics selected Sentinel RMS to license their applications.”
