UK hosting provider joins Visa and MasterCard compliant elite-

7global, the Managed Services company, today announced the entry of its data centre into the ranks of the small elite of UK hosting facilities to have achieved Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) accreditation.

MasterCard and Visa developed the PCI DSS certification to help the adoption of consistent measures to enhance credit card data security. In reaching this standard both 7global’s hosting facilities, and the steps the organisation takes to ensure data security, has been endorsed by all card schemes including Visa and MasterCard.

To obtain PSI DSS accreditation 7global worked closely with the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council approved, and highly experienced, qualified security assessor, One-SEC. This collaboration has ensured 7global customers storing credit card details, transactional data and other vital customer information have the peace of mind that their hosting provider complies with the security standards set out by the major card schemes.

Another important result for 7global clients is that they are now exempt from needing individual data centre certification, minimising their own end to end transactional PCI DSS accreditation.

7global’s Managing Director, Chris Bithell, commented: “As a leading hosting provider data security has always been central to what we do. And with the sharp rise in online sales it is imperative that clients using our data centre know that we take fraud as seriously as the banks and card issuers. We see PCI DSS accreditation as essential in providing the security users demand.

“Our clients know that rather than go through the costly and time consuming certification process themselves they can outsource to 7global. With our data centre accredited our clients stand to make huge savings in time and money whilst at the same time having complete peace of mind that they are adhering to the very highest standards.”

Riaan Versfeld, CEO of One-SEC, said ‘hosting providers like 7global are certainly fulfilling a required and valued market niche in the payments industry. Many companies don’t take enough credit cards in the early stages of the start up of their business to warrant the increase in systems and administration costs and 7global enables these businesses to accept credit cards and grow their sales while satisfying the security requirements set out by the card schemes’.
