Alliance Will Extend Sales of GemFire Enterprise and Deliver Localized Customer Support

GemStone Systems, the leading provider of distributed data management and virtualization solutions, and NIWS, a leading provider of business applications and services to major customers in Japan, today announced a strategic technology and business partnership to serve the Japanese market. The alliance with NIWS will extend the benefits of GemStone’s proven technology to customers in Japan and deliver an advanced solution to virtualize, share and manage data in high-performance, distributed environments. The partnership will also provide local knowledge and support by leveraging NIWS’s extensive industry expertise, highly skilled personnel and industry leading lab resources.

Through the alliance, NIWS will provide technical expertise and support, consulting, implementation and project management services to joint clients in Japan. NIWS will also serve as the first line of GemStone customer support in the region to ensure each client has full access to the extensive knowledge of top level native architects and technologists during Japanese business hours.

GemFire Enterprise is a high-performance, distributed data caching platform that serves as the core component of the GemFire Enterprise Data Fabric (EDF). It supports multiple topologies that allow it to be easily embedded into application architectures such as J2EE, .NET, Grid, SOA and portals and provide high performance throughput and scalability at significantly lower costs. Proven in mission-critical programs in financial services, telecommunications, energy, logistics and federal programs, GemFire Enterprise is built on one of the industry's fastest and most reliable data distribution and caching systems.

“With some of Japan’s leading financial, commercial and government firms already taking advantage of the GemFire solution, we see this alliance growing to support additional verticals that can leverage the strength of our combined offering,” said Yukio Sakamoto, managing director at NIWS. “NIWS chose to partner with GemStone following a careful evaluation of several technology providers. We realize that the combination of GemStone’s proven record of success and best-of-breed technology with the local resources and expertise of NIWS will allow us to deliver measurable business value to the Japanese market.”

“By establishing a strategic relationship with NIWS, we are able to serve Japan’s growing market and offer value added services to our joint customers. Our customers in Japan will now have access to the same technology and services as their global counterparts,” said Juan Menendez, SVP of business development, GemStone Systems. “Our solutions have already been supporting global businesses for seventeen years, and we recognize that NIWS’s vision and leadership will help us expand our presence in Japan and deliver continuous customer support on a regional level.”
