Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg Manages Economic Risk With Informatica Data Integration

FRANKFURT, Germany - September 27 2006

Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced that Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg (LBBW), south-west Germany's largest bank, has implemented the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform to help manage increasing business risk. In using PowerCenter to automatically populate internal risk data models with timely, consolidated information, the €405 billion-asset bank can accurately assess risk across increasingly complex financial transactions and comply with escalating regulatory requirements.

"An essential prerequisite for calculating our risk figures, Informatica PowerCenter ensures that the data required for effective risk management is available, on demand," said Bernd Raisch, Risk Information Manager at Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg. "In order to create a viable risk model, data drawn from numerous sources must conform to a uniform standard. PowerCenter was selected for its ability to extract data from a broad range of disparate systems and to perform the requisite complex data transformations in a high-performance, high-availability fashion."

LBBW uses PowerCenter to extract and integrate data for risk management across more than 10 systems, including trading systems Kondor+ and Sophis Risque. The consolidated data is automatically transformed to conform to the bank's risk management data model so that comprehensive analyses can be run whenever necessary. The analyses are in turn used to calculate the amount of capital resources the bank is required by law to have in reserve.

"Banking today is subject to structural change and ever-increasing risk. Moreover, with the introduction of Basel II in early 2007, capital requirements for international banks will be linked increasingly to economic risk," said Uwe Weimer, managing director, Central Europe, Informatica. "In use by 10 out of the 10 largest global banks, PowerCenter enables banks to consolidate and leverage previously fragmented data, including creating robust and flexible risk management frameworks that are powered by a single view of risk information across all operations and systems."

Landesbank Baden-Württemberg is a universal and international merchant bank. With more than 200 branches, mainly in Baden-Württemberg, and over 20 locations worldwide, it is one of Germany's five largest banks.
