France's national railway chooses XRT for its treasury management

France’s national railway, La Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF), has chosen leading treasury solution supplier XRT for the group’s treasury management operations and tracking of its banking transactions, including the implementation of a payment factory. The choice is the outcome of a long collaboration between the SNCF and XRT.

Within SNCF’s Financial Operations Division, the Treasury Department is responsible for centralizing the company’s treasury management operations, including managing, recording and analyzing all cash flow operations and supervising all bank accounts, as well as optimizing the treasury. With 12 million transactions each year, the support of a reliable and powerful treasury solution is critical.

SNCF had been using XRT solutions for more than five years but needed to upgrade its financial management system after an upgrade to Windows XP. After a competitive tender, the SNCF opted for XRT Universe and XRT Business Exchange.

SNCF will use XRT Business Exchange to implement a payment factory, allowing for automated and secure electronic payment via the company’s banking partners. Once the system is fully implemented, banking flows will be fully encrypted, secured and automatically generated via an electronic signature procedure created by the company.

To optimize company profitability, SNCF uses XRT Universe for reconciliation of bank transactions as well as cash position analysis that allows a global view of the company’s financial position and supports more effective decision making.

"Our teams selected the XRT solutions on the basis of very strict and extremely precise functional and technical criteria," says Thierry Bera, head of the Treasury Department at SNCF Financial Operations. "XRT has always lived up to our expectations and honoured its commitments in the past. So, given the reliability and quality of the projects presented by XRT, it is only natural that we should once again put our trust in XRT."

"XRT has always listened to its customers and SNCF is a key customer to us," adds Maurice Taieb, head of Large Accounts Division, XRT France. "We are pleased that once again we have been able to meet their requirements and offer the SNCF applications that integrate easily into their financial information systems," concludes Taieb.
