Gulf banking jobs soar

Jobs in the financial services and banking sectors in the Persian Gulf are "fuelling a regional employment boom", according to a recruitment website in the region.

'Banking' has been the most searched for keyword on the GulfTalent.com website, while 'insurance', 'finance' and 'private equity' also ranked highly.

At the same time, banks in the region have been reporting high growth projections, indicating that the sector will continue to boom over the next couple of years.

Edris Bantan, senior manager of human relations planning at Bank Aljazira in Saudi Arabia, told AlJazeera: "We are growing our headcount by 85 per cent this year and planning to double in size again next year."

The largest boom has been in retail banking but at the same time corporate and investment institutions are having problems filling their vacancies with educated and trained staff.

Banks are now looking further afield to recruit suitable employees.
