The current choice of tools for SFTP transfers is very large, but generally these are designed for interactive use, and provide little in the way of automated operations or audit trail for the client.
SFTPPlus has been developed in close co-operation with a major insurance company to provide additional audit and automation to open SFTP products and is a fully supported and cost effective solution that may be installed at one side of the data transfer. SFTPPlus supports protocols including SSH, FTPS and HTTPS. Users of SFTPPlus include EDS, Capgemini, NHS and Standard Life Insurance. SFTPPlus includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit.
Pro:Atria provide a FIPS compliant version of SFTPPlus using the OpenSSL FIPS object Module by Open Source Software Institute which is FIPS 140-2 validated and certified by NIST - Certificate No. 642. The certificate states: "Products which use the above identified cryptographic module may be labeled as complying with the requirements of FIPS 140-2 .....".
About FIPS 140-2. All Federal agencies that use cryptographic-based security systems to protect sensitive information are required to use a product that has a certificate issued by NIST (US) or CSEG (Canada) validating that the cryptographic module has been tested and meets the requirements for FIPS140-2. The standard is used increasingly worldwide.
