Image-based distributed capture suite includes merchant capture, branch capture, teller capture, and ATM capture

SAN ANTONIO, March 9, 2005 – Advanced Financial Solutions (AFS), a Metavante company and leading provider of image-enabled payment processing solutions to the financial services industry, is showcasing its suite of distributed image capture solutions at the 75th Annual ICBA National Convention, at booth number 507. The 2005 ICBA National Convention, the country’s largest gathering of community bankers, will be held March 9 – 13 at the San Antonio Convention Center in downtown San Antonio.

"Since being selected as ICBA’s Preferred Service Provider for in-house check and document imaging solutions last year, we’ve helped dozens of community banks rapidly implement a check imaging solution to leverage the recent changes in check law," said Gary Nelson, president of AFS. "The AFS Direct distributed capture suite of applications represent the next significant advancement in check imaging technology, lowering the cost of payment processing, and accelerating check clearing and cash flow by removing paper from the process."

The AFS Direct suite of distributed capture applications provide image-item capture at the payment source – merchant sites, lockboxes, branches, and ATMs, eliminating the need to physically transport the check deposits.

The AFS Direct applications offer distributed image capture and a payment processing infrastructure to accommodate remote capture at virtually every point of presentment – at the branch and off-premises – including commercial and merchant back-office locations. AFS Direct applications can integrate multiple capture locations, and leverage different capture devices to remove paper from the process, lowering the cost of payment processing with earlier deposits and increased float income.

Continued Nelson, "Independent community banks are seeking new options to grow revenue and defend their markets from competition. The opportunities provided by remote deposit capture are critical to these goals."

The AFS Direct distributed capture suite includes:

· Direct Merchant - brings the convenience and cost savings of distributed image capture directly to a community bank’s merchant clients. With a low-speed image capture device and secure Internet access, commercial customers can image capture check payments in their own back office, where they are received, and then electronically deliver the images to the bank for processing.

· Direct Branch – provides community banks with the capability to image capture checks through a scanning device at the back counter – extending back room capture into the branch. Batches of check images are scanned on a back-counter scanner at regular intervals.

· Direct Teller – provides community banks with the capability to image-capture checks at the teller station. AFS Direct Teller efficiently combines traditional online teller transaction processing with check image capture and transaction balancing.

· Direct ATM – provides image capture of check deposit transactions at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). AFS Direct ATM works with any image-based ATM and enables a customer to deposit a check directly into the ATM without an envelope. The check image is displayed on screen, allowing for the verification of the deposit amount. Customers have the choice of how and when to carry out a check deposit with the reassurance of instant proof of deposit.
