Southern Company Completes Implementation of e-Systems' Attaché software

Birmingham, AL, JUNE 7, 2005 – e-Systems.Net, Inc., announced today that Southern Company Generation, a subsidiary of Southern Company (SO), one of the largest electric utilities in the U.S., has successfully implemented e-Systems’ fully-integrated natural gas management software, Attaché.

Southern Company will use Attaché to manage the supply and delivery of natural gas to its gas-fired power plants across the Southeast and to Southern Company Gas’ retail marketing customers in Georgia. Attaché will also be used to manage Southern Company’s natural gas storage assets.

"The smooth Attaché implementation proves that e-Systems’ approach of empowering users creates exceptional value for Southern Company," said Marie Calhoun, president of e-Systems. "Furthermore, we are proud of our partnership with such a great organization as Southern Company."

Southern Company selected Attaché over numerous other products based on functionality and value. Attaché provides a dynamic set of real-time, integrated tools allowing Southern Company to operate more efficiently. Attaché’s robust foundation allowed for a tailored solution to meet Southern Company’s unique specifications.

"We set an aggressive time schedule with a lot of customization. e-Systems delivered what they promised. We got a great product that came in on time and under budget," said Bob Schaffeld, Southern Company Generation director of gas services. Robert Quarles, Southern Company Generation fuel accounting manager, added, "With Attaché, our accounting controls have been enhanced, and we are realizing increased efficiencies by the elimination of many manual processes."

Southern Company Generation is the business unit of Southern Company that oversees both retail and wholesale generation and generation services. Through Southern Company Generation, Southern Company operates 276 generating units in 69 fossil plants.

Attaché integrates deal capture, real-time position reporting, scheduling, contract management, storage, pricing, and accounting functionality into a single platform. Attaché’s design considers both Business users and the IT support staff, placing a premium on ease of use, deployment flexibility, and low maintenance.

Attaché is the first enterprise system to be deployed at Southern Company under the new Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Said Ms. Calhoun, "We believe Attaché’s performance under the additional scrutiny further demonstrates the strength of our system."
