New appointment to tackle Welsh financial services skills needs

02 June 2005

As part of its continuing work to develop and strengthen the high standards of development and training for financial services in Wales, the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) has appointed Chris Hall as National Manager for Wales.

Based in Cardiff, Chris will be working with employers and organisations to ensure there is a highly trained and capable workforce able to meet client needs in the rapidly changing financial services sector within Wales. As National Manager, his objective is to identify areas of industry growth within the next ten years. This will help the FSSC to reduce skills gaps and tackle future demands within the financial services sector. Hall will work closely with employers, universities and colleges to develop best practice and relevant training and qualifications.

Prior to his appointment with the FSSC, Hall was Investment Manager at Principality Building Society, where his consistent performance placed him in the top three investment managers throughout Wales. Chris’s previous role as Area Training Manager for Royal London Insurance, gave him hands-on involvement in the construction of training courses in a wide range of disciplines. Chris is a graduate in Financial Services and holds an Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.

FSSC Business Development and Research Director, Mary Greene, says: "Chris has invaluable experience of the training needs within the industry coupled with sound financial services knowledge. I am confident that he will successfully continue and build upon all the hard work achieved to date on the FSSC’s development in Wales."

Chris replaces Michelle Sayers, who has worked for the FSSC and its predecessor organisations since 1999.
