Cortal Consors Belgium will identify its clients via an electronic identity card

Cortal Consors Belgium allows its customers, from the beginning of this year, to identify themselves by means of their electronic identity card. It is a first in the banking world, made available by developments carried out by
Callataÿ & Wouters, its IT-partner.

Holders of a Belgian electronic identity card can, from today, identify themselves when opening a new account in one of Cortal Consors’ agencies or via the Internet. All data related to the new clients are automatically transferred to the bank’s IT-system so that complementary input is not necessary anymore.

Cortal Consors’ IT-partner, Callataÿ & Wouters, has developed - in conjunction with the bank – a series of new functions for the Thaler back-office and the Kyudo Internet banking applications, allowing banks to use this electronic card.

Callataÿ & Wouters’ R&D department continues to work on this project and already offers other applications linked to this new identity card, such as, for example, a secure authentication of the Internet transactions.

Cortal Consors Belgium hopes that the card will soon be widely used, allowing a high level of automation for several bank operations.
