London, May 5, 2004 â Sterling Commerce, a leading provider of business integration solutions, has secured the world's premier credit insurer, Euler Hermes, as a new customer for its business process integration platform, Sterling Integrator.
Euler Hermes is recognised globally for the high quality financial intelligence it provides to businesses. The most recent challenge facing Euler Hermes was to provide this information as up-to-the-minute data to its clients. Using Sterling Integrator, Euler Hermes now can respond to this challenge by creating an IT infrastructure that is highly integrated â internally within its own organisation and externally with its business partners.
Sterling Commerce was chosen to provide its innovative integration solution following a lengthy and intensive competitive selection process that lasted several months. During this time, Sterling Integrator underwent a series of rigorous tests before it was chosen by Euler Hermes as its preferred solution.
Sterling Integrator will initially be deployed to link Euler Hermesâ IT systems with those of its third party information providers, which include Experian and Dun & Bradstreet. This will allow data to be updated in real-time using XML and secure IP connections. By late 2004, Sterling Integrator will also be used to transfer large volumes of batch data securely over the Euler Hermes information network. The unique ability of Sterling Integrator to handle both multi-gigabyte files and message-based transactions inside its business process integration platform greatly reduces the complexity and costs involved in supporting Euler Hermesâ IT infrastructure.
Richard Spong, financial services solutions manager at Sterling Commerce, said: "Real-time access to data is especially critical to finance sector business operations. Euler Hermes recognised this and turned to Sterling Commerce to address the business challenge. Sterling Commerce provides a business integration solution that effectively and swiftly enables the companyâs systems to be connected directly with essential external credit data sources. This new financial information connectivity guarantees the timely and secure delivery of credit intelligence and we will continue to work with Euler Hermes to enhance and extend this solution to ensure that ROI is maximised."
