- FSA, KPMG, Inland Revenue and BASDA representatives to discuss compliance challenges facing financial services firms and the implications of the XBRL standard -

Regulatory bodies, industry associations, compliance officers, IT directors, consultants and software vendors are gathering on 17 June for the UKs 2004 keynote compliance event.

Hosted by City Compass and sponsored by compliance systems vendor cde Solutions, the Regulatory Reporting Briefing will discuss the adoption of XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) as the standard for regulatory reporting and the associated implications for compliance. The event takes place in the backdrop of the FSAs recent announcement of its timetable to introduce XBRL-based Mandatory Electronic Reporting for all regulated businesses, the Inland Revenues move to using XBRL for electronically filed Corporation Tax Returns and accounting standards bodies adopting XBRL for the International Financial Reporting Standard.

Speakers and themes will include:

- Making Electronic Reporting Mandatory - David Anderson, Programme Director for Integrated Regulatory Returns at the FSA
- Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise XBRL Projects - Jeff Smith, e-Service Development Leader for Companies at the Inland Revenue
- Improving Regulatory Reporting Realising the Benefits of XBRL - John Turner, KPMG partner and chair of XBRL.orgs International Domain Working Group
- How Software Developers Will Respond to XBRL - Dennis Keeling, Chief Executive of BASDA (Business Application Software Developers Association)

XBRL has the potential to revolutionise regulatory reporting, said Ray Dutton, CEO of event sponsors cde Solutions. Until they understand its implications better, however, most financial services firms are treating XBRL with some degree of caution. The City Compass event has been designed to address this issue head on by dispelling myths and equipping compliance officers with the knowledge they need.

cde Solutions Resolution XBRL compliance system is one of the first commercially-available solutions that enables regulatory reporting using the XBRL standard. cde Solutions was the first (and so far only) software vendor to demonstrate a working XBRL reporting tool to the FSA.

Gary Wright, MD and founder of City Compass, said: Its very important that financial services firms understand what XBRL is and make immediate plans for ensuring they are able to meet the FSA deadlines. cde Solutions is a first mover in providing a quality product that enables XBRL compliance but, perhaps as importantly, it has the business and technical knowledge that financial services firms can learn from attending the event.

Who should attend: Compliance officers, persons responsible for compliance systems, IT directors and consultants
