London, 10 May, 2004 -- Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced that Code Securities, the recently formed investment banking firm specializing in life sciences, has signed a two-year agreement to implement a range of applications in the Thomson ONE suite across its operations.

Thomson Financial was awarded the contract in a competitive pitch because it was the only vendor able to satisfy Code Securities’ complete market data requirements. Under the terms of the agreement, Thomson Financial will provide Code Securities with a combination of Thomson ONE Equity to users’ desktops across the whole organization, Thomson ONE Banker to the corporate finance team and Thomson Datastream to users in the equity research team. Exact terms of the contract are not disclosed.

Phil Dixon, Finance Director, Code Securities said: "As Code Securities grows, our market data requirements will increase and evolve. We needed a long-term partner to work with us and Thomson Financial offers a unique value proposition that will meet our users’ needs today and into the future."

Thomson ONE is the flexible, open application framework that allows for the easy integration of content and tools from Thomson Financial, third parties and your clients’ proprietary systems. Thomson ONE has the ability to deliver tailored integration, without the high cost of ownership and unwanted features. It is an architecture and new service configurable to the specific needs of corporate finance, institutional, brokerage and fixed income market professionals. Each component within the solution suite is tailored to a different audience: Thomson ONE Equity is aimed at the institutional equities market; Thomson ONE Advisor offers financial advisors a wealth management solution integrated with market data; Thomson ONE Banker is aimed at the investment banking market; Thomson ONE Analytics and Thomson ONE Portfolio are aimed at the institutional investment market; Thomson ONE Yield is aimed at fixed income users.

Thomson Datastream is the world’s largest and most respected historical financial numerical database covering an unparalleled breadth of financial instruments, equity and fixed income securities, and indicators for over 175 countries and 60 markets worldwide. It is currently being integrated in the Thomson ONE open application suite and Thomson Financial recently announced new infrastructure that increased capacity by 35%. This provides improved client query response times and ensures that Thomson Datastream is positioned to meet anticipated service levels for the foreseeable future.

Jonathan Morris, International Product Director, Thomson Financial said: "This is a good deal for both sides. Code Securities is a relatively new, specialized and focused investment banking firm and, as such, has demanding and specific requirements for market data and analytics. Thomson Financial has spent several years integrating its content to deliver Thomson ONE as an open application framework and was the only vendor that could meet Code Securities’ needs".
