All four of the founding Directors of Anvil Software graduated from the Computer Science department at University College London and have continued their links with the university through sponsorship of the Data Communications, Networking and Distributed Systems (DCNDS) MSc course since 1995. Anvilâs involvement consists of:
· providing the Anvil Scholarship for a student,
· participating in industry seminars as part of the course and
· an end of year prize for the best individual/group project.
The DCNDS course was chosen due to the links between the concepts in the course and Anvilâs global real-time trading systems.
Richard Smith was the beneficiary of the Anvil Scholarship in 2003. The financial assistance enabled Richard to concentrate fully on his studies rather than worry about his finances. As such Richard completed his course and now able to gain employment as a Research Fellow in the Networks Research Group at UCL.
This yearâs beneficiary was Oliver Priest who recently wrote to Managing Director Joe Nicholson thanking him for the Anvil Scholarship.
âI just wanted to write to you to thank you personally for the wonderful scholarship I have received from your company. I was absolutely thrilled when I heard the good news. Financial support in the form of a scholarship will enable me to concentrate hard on my master's degree without having to worry about my financial situation. I am very grateful for your support.
The Board of Directors at Anvil Software wish Oliver every success with his studies.
Anvil is very proud of its continuing involvement in the professional development of MSc students at UCL.
