Microsoft Certified Partner Status Strengthens IONA Strategy

DUBLIN, Ireland & WALTHAM, Mass - August 10, 2004 - IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, today announced it has earned certified status in Microsoft Corp.'s Partner Program. As a Certified Partner, IONA Technologies has demonstrated expertise with Microsoft technologies and a proven ability to meet customer needs. Microsoft Certified Partners receive a rich set of benefits, including access, training, and support that give them a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

"Customers are looking for partner companies that can bridge the gap between
their business demands and technology capabilities. They need to trust in technology plans. Only companies that have demonstrated high levels of customer service, proved their experience and attained advanced certification receive the designation of Microsoft Certified Partner," said Allison Watson, vice president of the Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing Group at Microsoft. "Today, Microsoft recognises IONA for its skills and expertise in providing customer satisfaction with Microsoft products and technology."

Achieving Microsoft Certified status demonstrates a commitment to IONA's ongoing strategy to provide complementary technology, such as ArtixÔ, the company's Web services integration product, to leading platforms. The accomplishment also coincides with the announcement that Artix has been awarded Microsoft .NET Connected Logo status, demonstrating the product's ability to integrate well into Microsoft .NET environments (see press release issued August 10, 2004).

IONA helps its customers solve the interoperability challenges of enterprises with heterogeneous, multi-vendor IT infrastructures and IONA's products make these mission-critical technology assets work together in ways that reduce costs and deliver flexibility, without sacrificing performance or availability. The company's products are built with the strictest conformance to technology standards, including those in the Microsoft .NET framework, to ensure compatibility, reliability, and longevity. The recognition from Microsoft that IONA has achieved Certified Partner Status demonstrates to the company's customers that IONA's products can not only interoperate, but be a strategic part of their Microsoft-based IT initiatives.

"The largest companies in the world have chosen to deploy Microsoft products as part of their strategic IT infrastructure. These companies, many of whom are already IONA customers, want to know that the technology vendors with whom they do business can effectively and efficiently integrate their products into that infrastructure," explained Mark Rogers, vice president, Partnerships, IONA. "Having achieved Microsoft Certified Partner Status, we ensure that our customers' investments in IONA will integrate seamlessly and add value to their current Microsoft deployments."
