EAI Consortium Announces Participation in Gartner and IBM Integration Events

Industry Consortium Becomes Active in Upcoming Integration & Web Services Conferences

New York, USA, October 28 , 2003 - The EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) Industry Consortium (EAIIC), an international, non-profit global advocacy group promoting Enterprise Integration, has become a partner to the upcoming Gartner Web Services & Application Integration Summit held in Baltimore, Maryland 17-19 November and the IBM Websphere Technical Conference held in Innsbruck, Austria 17-21 November. Both conferences include sessions presented by active members and the Consortium.

The Gartner Web Services & Application Integration Conference includes participation by EAIIC Founding Members CGI and EAI Technologies. A case study will be presented by CGI end user Hartford Insurance about the experiences and issues they have faced in EAI. Velan Thillairajah and Senthil Ramiah of EAI Technologies are conducting a post-conference workshop called "Hands On Workshop: Producing and Consuming Web Services in a Repeatable Fashion." In the session, they will address the practical issues of using, building and reusing an actual Web Service, and present a step-by-step approach that can be used on projects. Additional EAIIC members present at the conference include Attunity, Fiorano Software, Magic Software, MQ Software, Sonic Software, Vitria and webMethods.

IBM has been a founding member of the Consortium since July which accounts for the EAIIC's heavy participation in the IBM Websphere Technical Conference. Steve Craggs, European Chairman of the Consortium is holding a session called "Avoiding EAI Bear-Traps" to discuss with participants their experiences and lessons learnt in EAI implementations. It identifies the business, procedural and technical EAI 'bear-traps' that have resulted in serious impact to EAI projects. Also participating in the conference is Support Manager, Harry Harris of EAIIC member CitiCorp. His presentation "User Experiences with IBM WebsphereMQ" looks at how the UK has implemented, uses, and plans to use WebsphereMQ. As an additional perk for attending the conference, IBM is offering to its end-user attendees a free six month membership to the EAIIC.

Michael Kuhbock, Chairman and Founder of the EAIIC comments: "The Consortium has established an infrastructure to support member driven initiatives and we are pleased to see so many of our members taking part in events. Being able to work closely with other EAI vendors, implementers and end-users brings us closer to our goal of establishing benchmark practices in the industry."

Both events are promoted to members and guests on the EAIIC web site.
