New RightNow White Paper Defines ASP Selection Criteria

Multi-tenancy application architecture, security, engagement terms, SLAs and integration capabilities among key factors

8 May 2003 - RightNow Technologies, the world's leading provider of hosted customer service and support solutions, today announced its publication of a groundbreaking white paper that clearly defines key criteria for selecting an application service provider (ASP). Titled "The Insider's Guide to Selecting an ASP," the white paper fully outlines the top 12 factors to consider before engaging with a provider of hosted applications.

Deciding factors include the ASP's implementation of true multi-tenancy application architecture, effective security measures, engagement terms appropriate to the hosting model, service-level agreement criteria and the ability to integrate with other enterprise and hosted applications. Other factors include the ability to bring the application in-house and data migration.

The author, RightNow Technologies founder and CEO Greg Gianforte, has been a pioneer in the ASP market, developing both the technology architecture and business models for service and support solutions necessary to make hosted applications a compelling alternative to conventional, internally deployed software.

"With the market's growing embrace of hosted applications, it is important to clearly define the criteria by which customers can safely select their ASP partners," Gianforte says. "This document provides buyers considering a relationship with one or more ASPs a definitive set of factors to consider in their decision."
