SunGard Trading and Risk Systems and Client Solutions, Ltd Partner to Offer Data Management and Reporting as Prerequisites to Basel II and IAS39 Compliance

NEW YORK, May 19, 2003 – SunGard Trading and Risk Systems, an operating group of SunGard (NYSE: SDS), today announced that SunGard’s BancWare operating unit will work with Client Solutions to help banks and non-financial institutions across Ireland, including insurance and pharmaceuticals, meet regulatory demands including Basel II and IAS 39 requirements.

SunGard’s BancWare Insight solution will form the data cleansing, extraction and reporting engine to Client Solutions’ data warehousing and management solutions. Client Solutions, part of the Horizon Group plc, and based in Dublin, Ireland, will provide local support to Irish clients of both solutions.

The BancWare suite offers clients the specific functionality required to deliver a solution for IAS 39, commonly known as "fair value accounting". BancWare also manages regulatory reporting interpretation and specific implementation issues with regard to IAS 39 compliance.

BancWare also offers a Basel II module as an integrated component of its asset/Liability management, financial performance and profitability measurement suite. BancWare’s Basel II module provides comprehensive instrument coverage for balance sheet items, fully auditable and documentable results, standardized and Internal Ratings Based (IRB) approaches, pre-programmed methodologies from foundation to advanced, and, along with other SunGard solutions, coverage for all three pillars of Basel II Accord, including treatment of off-balance sheet items.

BancWare and Client Solutions will be hosting a seminar on data management in the context of profitability and complying with Basel II and IAS 39 on Thursday, May 22nd at 4pm at Jurys Inn, Custom House Quay, IFSC, Dublin. Guest speaker Enda Devine, head of finance at EBS Building Society will join Bill Collette, vice president of profitability solutions, and Kevin Williams, data management expert, SunGard Trading and Risk Systems in presenting.
