Six years ago, SimCorp launched TMS2000 as the first true straight through processing investment management system on the market with a single, totally integrated database. Since that time, SimCorp has significantly improved the product through two regular new releases every year. As a result, it is now installed in more than a hundred financial institutions worldwide and its international appeal is rapidly growing. A change is now necessary to make the name of the product more suitable internationally.
The name SimCorp Dimension reflects the way the system is able to support all main financial instruments in a very comprehensive way with extensive functionality and throughout the entire investment management process. From wherever a holding is viewed within an institution, the user will always have its exact status, in real time. It is a truly multi-dimensional system.
"SimCorp Dimension is a powerful name for a powerful product," explains Peter Ravn, chief executive officer for SimCorp, "it demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customersâ business in multiple dimensions across asset classes, throughout the work flow and in a growing number of markets and segments. It relates to the way in which we have the tools for handling the multi-dimensional complexity of the financial universe."
Release 3.3 of SimCorp Dimension introduces a new menu structure that changes the operation of the system to function orientation reflecting the way that investment managers work. It moves away from the traditional front, middle and back office systemsâ structure to support for specific operations such as portfolio management, performance or client management with all related functionality located in one place. Furthermore, users can personalise the system according to their own needs by having the ability to drag and drop menus and frequently used items onto their desktop making them far more accessible.
SimCorp Dimension release 3.3 also includes extensive enhancements to the systemâs functionality. Additional fund accounting functionality is one of the most significant changes. The new fund accounting features include an integrated general ledger module and fund figure explorer. It also supports advanced fund types and the processing of large numbers of funds within the systemâs straight through processing capability. Furthermore, a new integration tool, known as Communication Server, supports transaction based interfaces to third parties. There are also a number of enhancements in the performance area, such as a composite manager, which gives SimCorp Dimension an edge in performance measurement.
