SolutionForge FIX Technology Connects Orbis Group and Credit Suisse First Boston with FIX 4.2

· Orbis Group trading electronically with CSFB on the bank's Advanced Execution Services
· Long-term SolutionForge client Orbis utilising fast extension capability of FIX.NET Server 2002

14th February 2003 - London - SolutionForge, the UK-based provider of financial Straight-Through Processing solutions, today announced that it has developed a trading connection between Orbis Group, a global manager of offshore mutual funds and long-standing SolutionForge client, and Credit Suisse First Boston's (CSFB) Advanced Execution Services (AES) using the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol version 4.2.

Orbis has historically used SolutionForge's FIX.NET Server 2002 to enable it to communicate transaction data to third parties electronically, using FIX messages. However, the need to utilise CSFB's innovative AES product involved the addition of a number of new fields within those FIX messages. The additional fields within the FIX messages contain instructions to the AES system to activate one of CSFB's seven value-added trading strategies.

The flexibility inherent in FIX.NET Server 2002's Microsoft-based design meant that this development project was completed in a matter of weeks, with CSFB completing testing and approving the new messages on 12th February.

Nick North, IT director at Orbis, comments, "Once we decided to extend our FIX connectivity to CSFB's AES it was a relatively simple process. One of the reasons we selected SolutionForge for our FIX engine in the first place was its flexibility, and our decision has been fully vindicated by the swift and smooth progression of this upgrade project."

Steve Wilkinson, SolutionForge's founder and CEO, adds, "Orbis is one of SolutionForge's longest standing clients and together we are continuing to find new applications for our FIX engine. We are very pleased that they have upgraded to FIX 4.2 and connected to AES using our technology. The speed at which this was achieved highlights one of the key factors in the success of FIX.NET Server 2002, its ability to provide as short a time-to-market as possible."

Richard Balarkas, head of electronic trading at CSFB, comments "Clients who can access our Advanced Execution Services directly via FIX are able to exploit our industry leading trading algorithms and take full advantage of the efficiencies and price performance that they deliver. SolutionForge's technology has proven to be a remarkably speedy way for clients to upgrade to FIX 4.2 and utilise AES."
