CAfIT announces the signing of Scottish Widows to use FIPA across their Fixed Income Department

In January 2003, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) signed up to take FIPA, CAfIT’s multi-currency portfolio management and modelling system, and implement it across the whole of their Fixed Income department in Edinburgh.

As David Millar, Head of Government Bonds from SWIP stated, "We looked at a number of different providers to satisfy our Fixed Income portfolio modelling requirements. In addition to their deep knowledge of this specialist business, we were impressed by CAfIT's willingness to help us integrate the FIPA product into our own environment."

Jem Tugwell, Managing Director of CAfIT says, "We are extremely excited by this new relationship with SWIP." He believes, "that two aspects are essential to a successful implementation and on-going use of any system, both of which are key to CAfIT’s approach. Firstly, it has a specialist focus which enables extremely good relations with all of their clients throughout the lifecycle of the project, and additionally, the overall design of CAfIT’s products enable them to be easily integrated into any existing client technical architecture with minimal technological overhead. This combination along with CAfIT’s Fixed Income focus has enabled the sale of FIPA to SWIP."

"SWIP’s driver was a requirement for a comprehensive set of portfolio modelling capabilities for its Fixed Income business. SWIP was also looking for an organization with a long-term Fixed Income focus and who will to keep its products moving forward," stated Jem Tugwell.

"The FIPA product itself impressed us with its flexibility, which allows it to support SWIP's already well-developed portfolio management techniques" said David Millar, SWIP.

Jem Tugwell concludes that, "we are able to provide SWIP with the flexibility in the specialist fixed income solution that matches their requirements and investment process."
