Systor and Netcetera to implement SBB s Pathfinder

Zurich, 25.08.2002 - Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has commissioned Netcetera and Systor to implement a platform for the coordination of European train timetables. The system, to be called Pathfinder , will run on an Internet-based communications platform.

As Chair of the Forum Train Europe (FTE), Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has
commissioned the firms Netcetera and Systor to implement a platform for the
coordination of European train timetables. The FTE is the only pan-European
forum for international production planning, timetable coordination and the
harmonization of line allocations for European rail traffic. The Pathfinder
system will support Europe's railroad operators and infrastructure providers with an Internet-based communications platform for the coordination of international trains and timetables.

The system will run in just seven countries initially (Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Denmark and The Netherlands), although there are plans to extend it to other Western and Central European states at a later date. The first phase of the contract will involve the development of a prototype to serve as a proof-of-concept for the planned system. This prototype will subsequently provide a decision-making basis for the incremental realization of the target system by mid-2003. The contract also includes an option for the operation of the solution by Systor Business Services AG.
