developer of leading, ultra high-speed systems, as Chief Operating Officer.
Karen’s role will combine spearheading the company’s commercial activities
with the development of new customer-driven products. She will also join the
Communicating board of directors as an executive director.
Prior to joining Communicating, Karen spent eight years as Chief Executive
of the Thomson Financial division (formerly ICV/Datastream), where she had
complete control of real-time and trading businesses. In September 2000
Thomson acquired Primark (ICV/Datastream’s parent) and Karen took
responsibility for two additional Thomson divisions, ILX and Autex,
internationally (excluding North America).
Before joining ICV in 1993, Karen worked at the London Stock Exchange for
seven years, where she was manager of information and trading products.

expertise will prove invaluable in achieving this.'
Communicating has also established a Research and Development Institute,
headed by Vladan Jovanovic, Managing Director of Communicating. Karen says:
'Few companies take research and development as seriously as Communicating;
this was one of the main attractions of the company. Additionally, my role
at Communicating offers the combination of classic commercial director,
sales and support, and gives me an opportunity to get involved in converting
market requirements into deliverable technology.'
Karen joins Communicating as it expands its product range, following 18
months of research and development, which ranged from developing a front-end
derivatives trading system for Liffe Connect products, to building Aquarius.
The Aquarius platform provides both exchanges and investment banks with the
gateways, the application programming interfaces to a high speed, fully
recoverable matching engine.
