BITA PLUS RELEASES 'STRATEGY SIMULATOR' FOR INVESTMENT STRATEGY BACKTESTING

§ New backtesting tools to support fundamental research into equity
markets
§ BITA Strategy Simulator is most advanced investment strategy testing system available in the market today

17th January 2000 - London - BITA Plus, the global provider of high-level
investment management and securities trading software, has today announced
the release of BITA Strategy Simulator - a new backtesting module to support
equity market research.

BITA Strategy Simulator enables fund managers to model and test their
investment strategies, to gain an insight into the dynamics of equity
markets over the last twenty years and to refine their own investment
processes.

Many types of investment strategy can be modelled within the groundbreaking backtesting module, whether based on styles, industries, countries or stock selection. To ensure the results of the backtesting are convincing, the most important "real-world" factors are always included within the strategy test, such as transaction costs, the effects of changes to the benchmark, mergers, de-mergers and acquisitions.

Users can set up their own strategy models and run them over many different time periods. They can then interrogate the results to discover the sources of risk and return at global, country, industry and style level. The powerful BITA optimiser and family of Global Risk Models are available within BITA Strategy Simulator for the most demanding quantitative users.

Laurence Wormald, Director of BITA Plus comments:

"BITA Strategy Simulator enables fund management houses to add discipline to their investment processes and strategies. Fund Managers are now able to refine their strategy testing to make it more rigorous and complete, giving them much more confidence in discussing their "house style" - knowing when it works and when it may need to be re-thought."
