The Web3 development studio behind the popular lifestyle app STEPN has announced today the launch of GMT Pay, a payment gateway aimed at making blockchain-based earnings accessible for everyday spending.
Described as a milestone in bridging digital assets and practical use, GMT Pay is designed to convert earnings from platforms like STEPN GO into spendable value at millions of merchants worldwide.
FSL Co-Founder Yawn Rong highlighted the transformative potential of the platform, saying, “Three years ago, the idea of a Web3 payments app felt like a distant dream. Today, it’s a reality. You can go for a run with STEPN GO, earn rewards, download GMT Pay, and seamlessly use your earnings to make real-world purchases. This is the evolution of Web3—bridging the gap between digital and physical worlds.”
Central to GMT Pay is the GMT Giftcard, a virtual Mastercard available in denominations of $50, $100, $200, and $300. The cards can be used both online and offline, enabling payments for everyday items such as coffee, online shopping, and even subscription services like Spotify. The gift cards are also compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay, adding an extra layer of convenience for users.
Shiti Manghani, CEO of FSL, described GMT Pay as a significant step forward for Web3 adoption. “GMT Pay is the next step in empowering users to bring Web3 into their everyday lives. From fitness enthusiasts earning on STEPN GO to shoppers looking for global convenience, GMT Pay makes digital earnings useful in ways we couldn’t imagine just a few years ago,” Manghani explained.
The service has been designed to cater to a global audience, although certain regional restrictions may apply.
