In the last full week of June, Bobsguide brings you a round-up of the latest and most interesting fintech moves of the past few days. Here’s who traded up in the industry this week.
Natwest’s CIO of physical channels for retail banking for the past two years, Nicola Emsley, has jumped ship to join HSBC. Emsley has taken on the role of CTO for enterprise technology, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Her career at Natwest and its subsidiary, RBS, spanned over seven years. Emsley joined RBS as head of delivery in 2015, later progressing to head of non-financial risk technology and latterly taking on the CIO for retail banking role.
Prior to RBS, she spent nine years at UBS in various technology roles, after a five-year tenure as a development manager at Morgan Stanley.
London-based asset manager, ISAM, has promoted Peter Lewin-Harris to the role of CTO. Prior to taking on the top tech job, Lewin-Harris headed up trading and technology at the quant shop.
ISAM has two separate arms – ISAM Funds, an alternative investment manager that specialises in quantitative investing, and ISAM Capital Markets – an execution, prime brokerage and consultancy service.
The firm did not respond to a request for comment on which division’s technology Lewin-Harris would lead.
Prior to ISAM, he spent over four years, between 2008 and 2012, in various senior development roles at online gambling provider, Betfair.
Across the pond, New York-headquartered, Wilshire, has brought on Lawrence Miller to lead its growing technology function. The $1.3bn consultant provides investment advise, as well as indexes, analytics and multi-asset investment solutions – a considerable tech footprint.
Making a return to finance, Miller was previously CTO of Signant Health, a global provider of clinical trial technology and services to the pharmaceutical industry. He left that role in October 2021 after two years and five months with the business.
Prior to Signant, he spent two years as chief security officer of Symphony. Yes, that Symphony – the instant messaging platform where finance goes to chat.
